Flowers Indoors

I began this project on November 20, 2009, when I received (complete surprise) 3 complimentary bulbs, Amaryllis, from my last minute plant order of creeping flox. It was a good deal on the flox and thought I would take a chance and cast $20 to the wind.

I did some research and here is what I did for my 3 amigos- 1st plant bulbs with top end and shoulders sticking out. This is important to not plant the bulbs too deep. I watered once a week. When the blossoms appeared I watered more, the soil seemed to dry out faster.

The pot was located in a room where the plants received full west sun and in a warmer area of the house (not in a draft).

Once the plants have run their cycle and begin to die, you remove the bulbs from the dirt and put them in a dark and dry place. After they have rested about 3 months, bring them out and repeat.

As for the creeping flox, they did make it in the ground outside before the freeze. We have to wait for spring to see if they survived my race with Mother Nature.

 At just one week look at this growth.  I found it more exciting growing this in the house than outdoors. 

 2 weeks in the soil and 2 good waterings...looks like things are growing well.

 Look at the blossoms growing!  I can hardly wait!

This tall guy is in a hurry to grow up.  I am still amazed week to week.

Oops! A few leafs drooped. I think I need to up the water dosage.  Maybe put in a few skewers and tie up the leafs?

 Houston, we have a flower blossom appearing!  It is red.  More water needed.

The white one came out overnight. Beautiful!  Just in time for th parties.
