My Discovery of Tea Tree Oil

As I was googling for relief from gout, I stumbled upon the various uses of Tea Tree Oil. I was surprised by all the different ways it can be used. My son introduced me to the oil a few months ago and I really did not pay much attention. His knowledge was limited to aromatherapy use and he used it in his shampoo to get rid of his dandruff. He add 5 - 6 drops into his shampoo and within 2 weeks his dandruff diminished! There is so much more to this oil and I am on a mission to try it out on a many things as I can.

My first experiment is on a wart I have on my leg. Just a little one, non-the-less, I have in the past tried your typical wart removers and to no avail. For two nights in a row I put a saturated cotton ball the size of the wart (small) with straight Tea Tree Oil and covered it with a Band-Aid. You should try to not over exposed good skin to the oil - it may blister your good skin. It appears after only two nights of this the wart is getting significantly smaller!

My second experiment is my husband's gout. His big toe knuckle is always hurting. I have been rubbing a mixture of 50/50 Tea Tree Oil and olive oil on it. Now, a little of this goes along way so 1/2 teaspoon of each is plenty. In addition to his pain management program, every morning he has a breakfast cocktail of 2 ounces of XanGo and 2 ounces of tart cherry juice to help reduce the inflamation.

Since gout is aggravated by your diet and he will not change it, I cannot say how it is working for him. I know he likes getting his foot massaged and the oils do alleviate the pain at that time. My hands, however, feel refreshed. I work at a computer all day so the oil makes my hands and wrists feel wonderful.

After working my husband's toe over I rubbed some of the mixture on the back of my neck. I was feeling a little punky, like sinus or catching a cold. It was very soothing. I slept like a baby and the next morning forgot all about not feeling well.

Tea Tree Oil is very strong when used not diluted. Caution it can burn your skin. I put some on a cotton swab and dabbed it on a brown spot on my check for an hour then wiped it off. I have been doing this everyother day for a week now (so I won't burn my skin) and the spot has lightened up considerably!

It is also a great antiseptic http://www.teatreewonders.com/natural-healing.html this site has some great information for more uses. I do not have all these symptoms to experiment on, however, I am using it in my laundry - 3 drops a load. And I am using it as a cleaner in my kitchen and bathroom for countertops, doorknobs, light switches, bathroom fixtures, etc. - 4 drops in a quart squirt bottle.
